Yordan Kyurkchiyski

Short description: Yordan is a Regulatory Officer at the General Council of the Bar of England and Wales and a part-time Teaching Fellow in International Environmental Law at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL), where he also served as Assistant to the Chair of Public International Law from January 2022 to February 2023. He holds a Bachelor of Laws in English and European Law from QMUL and a Master of Laws in Legal Practice from BPP University, London, which he undertook as a Droop Scholar of the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn.
His professional interests lie primarily in Public and Public International Law, Regulatory, Planning and Environmental Law, among others. He is passionate about issues concerning the environment, including global warming, pollution, biodiversity and natural resources, and acts as a Junior Convenor of the ‘International’ Group of the UK Environmental Law Association (UKELA).

ELSA experience: Yordan joined ELSA in 2018 and has been an active ELSA Officer since April 2019, working primarily in the area of Internal Management. He started his active journey in the Association by being appointed as the Deputy Secretary General in his Local Group ELSA QMUL, and subsequently in the following year (2020/2021) as the Deputy Secretary General of ELSA Belgium. He was also simultaneously active as a member of the ELSA International Team, where he served in the roles of Assistant for Internal Management (2020/2021), Director for ELSA Training (2021/2022) and Director for Human Resources (2022/2023), before ultimately joining the International Board of ELSA as its Secretary General for the term 2023/2024. Following the completion of his term and the Train the Trainers in October 2024, he joined the International Trainers Pool as one of its members.
